Lubomir Ivanov Kolev was reunited with his late wife and the love of his life, Stefka, this past Sunday, January 23, 2022.
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria on September 9, 1948, just as Communism came to that country, Lubomir was a dedicated father and husband who loved freedom and America. He served in the Bulgarian armed forces, worked as a cab driver and as an auto body repairman and was handy in building and fixing just about anything you could imagine.
While he was never admitted to study at the University, on account of his political views, he studied art privately and was a talented illustrator and painter. Anyone visiting the Kolevi apartment in Sofia was greeted by a larger than life mural of the Beatles on the kitchen wall.
He was one of the first converts in Bulgaria to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for fifteen years as the Branch President and later the District President in Sofia. Lubo and Stekfa later immigrated to the USA where they became two of the most grateful U.S. citizens this country has.
His dedication left a deep impression on the many he served throughout his life and his legacy of pure love and selflessness continue to shape those who felt that love.
Lubomir is survived by his daughter Eva Koleva Timothy and her husband Adam, and his grandchildren Ian, London and Skye.
