Hampton – Loretta M. Fothergill, 81, of Hampton, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Exeter Hospital with family by her side.
She was born in Somerville, Mass., July 25, 1936 a daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Dorgan) Murphy.
She attended Boston College School of Nursing and graduated from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing and also attended School of Life Long Learning in Durham.
Mrs. Fothergill was employed as a registered nurse at Portsmouth Pavilion for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish and made her home in Hampton since 1969.
She shared 59 years of marriage with her husband William J. Fothergill.
In addition to her husband, family members include her son, William J. Fothergill and his wife Shea of Union, her daughter, Cathleen M. Roy of Exeter, six grandchildren, Joshua, Mitchell, Cory, Ryan, Ashley, and Riley, and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Calvin.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Julie Fothergill Kelleher, Catherine M. Fothergill, her brother Robert Murphy and her sister, Dorothy Murphy.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. The family suggests donations to Wounded Warriors, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
