John T. Tardif

d. May 14, 2018

Kittery Point, ME – John T. Tardif, 65, of Kittery Point, and Sabattus, ME, died on May 14, 2018.

He was born in Lewiston, Maine on September 28, 1952, the son of Sylvia (Riley) Tardif of Auburn and the late V. John Tardif, Jr.

Raised in Lewiston, he graduated from Lewiston High School with the Class of 1970. He went on to enlist and proudly served 4 years in the Army.

John worked in construction, managing hundreds of projects throughout New England in a career that spanned almost 50 years. In that time John made many friends and earned enormous respect from clients and colleagues for his dedication and broad range of knowledge.

Second to his passion for his work, John loved eating and stopping in for a DQ Ice Cream. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, the ‘news’, and hiking with his Scotties. He was very industrious and enjoyed many home and car projects, the most ambitious of which was the log cabin he built on Sabattus Lake. He will be remembered as a kind hearted and gentle man who never complained. He was hard working and always there to lend a helping hand. He had sparkling blue eyes and he was always smiling.  He was a good-natured man who always remembered your name.  John enjoyed a positive outlook and a zest for life that was shortened too soon by cancer.

In addition to his mother, family members include his wife, Deborah Tardif of Sabattus, his incredible daughters of whom he was extremely proud, Destiny McClure and Kylie Rossignol, Destiny’s husband, Cory of Bethel, ME, Kylie’s significant other Matt Morin of Sabattus, Lynn Davis of Sabattus; sister, Anna Mae Crowley and husband Anthony of Lewiston; brother, Tee Timothy Tardif and significant other Stefine Dyer Christie of Yarmouth; his wonderful grandchildren, Max, Sylvia, Griffin, Kaleb, Emmakate, Ayla, Kylie, Mason, Haley and Colby, and longtime companion Denise Payne of Kittery Point.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Community Baptist Church, 9 Main Street, Sabattus, Maine 04280. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
