Arlington, MA – Ellen Patricia Dow, 62, of Arlington, passed away suddenly on March 14, 2021 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA.
She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 24, 1958, the youngest child in a big family of older siblings. Her late parents, Richard and Patricia (Vera) Dow, delighted in their “caboose baby,” and she grew up to be the angel of their old age in Winchester, Massachusetts.
She attended Stonehill College where she enhanced her gift of gab by majoring in English and enjoyed the sisterhood of a close group of friends, who continued to meet and support each other throughout the ensuing decades.
She married Warren Clark Pease and lived most of her adult life in Westford, Massachusetts. She worked for many years in the insurance industry and was a tireless advocate for her clients while raising her daughter Amanda and son Christopher. Ellen strove to share her love of uplifting music, beach walks, holidays and spontaneous outings, good books and classic movies with her children. Her infectious laugh and sense of the absurd entertained friends, family, nurses, and Lyft drivers alike as she plowed through both happy times and adversity.
Ellen was predeceased by her older sister Nancy Canfield and survived by her estranged husband Clark, her children, Amanda and Christopher Pease, her siblings Carolyn Dow Gibson, Richard Dow, Jr., Peter Dow, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her sarcastic wit, fierce courage, and ability to light up a room with her warm and kind personality.
Her children will scatter her ashes privately in the New Hampshire ocean, her expressed wish, in place of a memorial service.
